Resolved - xDSL Issues, various areas

Good morning.

Since around 8:50am we have been aware of issues in various exchange causing a loss of PPP session and a quick re-establishment for no apparent reason.

The wholesale suppliers are presently investigating urgently and will provide an update as soon as possible.

*** UPDATE 09:45 ****

We have seen a number of sessions stabilise, however we still have around 100 dsl lines that are extremely intermittent. Telefonica have affirmed they are aware and still working on the issue, but sadly with no ETR at this moment in time.

*** UPDATE 09:48 ***

We have been advised the cause of this issue is a fibre failure between London Hosting Centre and Telehouse North which is causing massive packet loss on the network and loss of PPP sessions. We understand that althought fault is logged with the fibre provider, further work around measures are being taken in the mean time.

*** UPDATE 10:51 ***

The interim measures have been implemented to ensure service is restored, albeit at risk due to a single fibre provision and all customers should be back in service. There may well be stale logon sessions on the network, and if so, please could you power down your router for a few moments and restart to return to service. Thank you

*** RESOLVED 11:24 ***

We have been advised that the broken fibre is now fixed, being a street side break between LHC and THN. The Telefonica fibre ring is now fully resilient and we are seeing traffic from both legs of the ring.

Apologies for the inconvenienve caused.
